World Environment Day
To celebrate World Environment Day, 8 members of the Connolly team volunteered at the Onwards Homes River Estate Community Day and fence build with the Onwards Homes team and children from a local school.
This included a spruce up of the Rivers Estate and Rivers Community Garden in Whitefield, alongside the replacement of old fencing in the community gardens.
During the day, a mother hedgehog and her babies were found under the existing decking when, it was thought that the babies were just 10 days old. Our team were able to clean up the hedgehogs and provide them with a safe space until they were rescued by Hog Manor in Delph, where they will be looked after and released backed into the wild when the babies are old enough.
The day was finished by the planting of an apple tree, donated by the Connolly team, which was planted by our team in the community garden.
