Team Connolly keeps Wigan families smiling with renewed home maintenance partnership

Families across the Wigan Borough are set to see continued improvements and upkeep of their homes thanks to the renewal of Wigan Council’s Cyclical Maintenance Programme.  This renewed partnership means Connolly is one of two contractors appointed to deliver the £3 million-a-year Cyclical Maintenance Programme, dedicated to looking after the approximately 22,000 homes managed by the council, ensuring they stay safe, warm, and well-cared for over the next five years.

This proactive approach to essential property maintenance includes a wide range of works designed to keep homes in excellent condition and deliver real benefits for the families living in them including:

  • Improved Energy Efficiency: Installation of cavity wall insulation will help reduce energy consumption
  • Enhanced Building Integrity: Regular cleaning and maintenance of high-rise buildings ensure structural integrity and a pleasant living environment for those in multi-story dwellings.
  • Modern and Secure Homes: Upgrades and replacements of windows and doors will enhance security, improve insulation, and contribute to the overall aesthetic appeal of properties.
  • Well-Maintained Surroundings: Repairs and replacements of fencing and railings will improve the safety and appearance of communal and individual outdoor spaces.
  • Structural Stability: Addressing structural alterations like hardstanding and retaining walls ensures the long-term stability and safety of properties and their surroundings.
  • Fresh and Protected Exteriors: Regular painting and pre-paint repairs will not only enhance the visual appeal of homes but also protect them from weathering and potential damage.
  • Safe and Reliable Roofing: Timely repairs and replacements of roofing will prevent leaks and structural issues, safeguarding the interior of homes.
  • Future-Ready Homes: Retrofit works will focus on modernising properties, potentially including measures to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon footprint.
  • Safe Electrical Systems: Regular electrical testing and necessary works will ensure the safety and functionality of electrical installations within homes.
  • Healthier Living Environments: Addressing disrepair issues, particularly damp and mould, will create healthier and more comfortable living conditions for residents.

For nearly two decades, Connolly has been a trusted partner of Wigan Council, and this latest agreement shows their continued commitment to the well-being of Wigan families. It means a consistent focus on maintaining and improving homes, ensuring they are happy and healthy places to live and grow.

Chris Connolly CEO said “Our almost two-decade partnership with Wigan Council is something we’re really proud of Connolly and this latest contract renewal allows us to build upon that strong foundation, continuing our unwavering commitment to improving the lives of Wigan families.  For us, it’s not just about maintaining properties; it’s about ensuring everyone has a safe, comfortable, and healthy place to call home, and we’re deeply honoured to play a part in that for many years to come.”
