Project Win : Wigan Council Rough Sleeper Accommodation
Wigan Council has appointed Connolly, via the ICN Construction Works Framework, to undertake the conversion of 2 council-owned properties in Pemberton and Atherton.
The project will see the conversion and refurbishment of existing residential and commercial premises into twelve self-contained apartments for use by rough sleeps in the local area, eight located in Pemberton and four located in Atherton.
The project is part of Wigan Council’s Rough Sleeper Accommodation programme (RSAP), funded by the Department for Levelling Up, through the Rough Sleeping Accommodation Programme Fund 2021-24.
The homes created will act as ‘Move-On’ homes, temporary steppingstones to permanent/sustainable accommodation for residents, which aim to reduce rough sleeping in the local community and provide a safe, comfortable environment for vulnerable people.
Delivered in 2 phases, Connolly has begun works onsite for Phase 1, Pemberton, which commenced in early April 2023, with Atherton expected to follow. It is expected the works will take 5-months to complete.
We are proud to be working with Wigan Council on such an impactful project, which will make such a difference in the local community and we can’t wait to see this project progress.
