Project Details

  • Location: St. Thomas Estate, Bury
  • Value: 1.7m

Our partnership with Six Town Housing saw this project win the Best Regeneration Scheme at the 2016 Housing Excellence Awards.

Dubbed by the local press as a ‘forgotten estate’, our team brought the 96-unit residential area of St Thomas up to and above Bury Council’s decent homes standard.

The regeneration of the scheme has dramatically improved the area, with residents now wanting to stay in their properties. With the creation of a new tenants and residents group for the estate, they hope to create a thriving community and make St Thomas estate a desirable location to live.

Alongside external improvements that have reduced inequality in housing need, the estate has been revitalised with enhanced green and recreational areas, and improved communal walkways to enable residents to feel safe.

Six Town Housing CEO Sharon McCambridge commented: “St Thomas has been transformed from a dated estate into something resembling a brand new scheme. Connolly have been instrumental in managing relationships with residents, setting up a local base to become part of the community, regularly engaging with them and providing added value through clean up days and more. As a result, the neighbourhood is much brighter.”
