  • Location: Wythenshawe
  • Value: £1.98m

This scheme involves the external refurbishment works for two high rise purpose built blocks of flats in Manchester.

Owned by Wythenshawe Community Housing Group, these blocks will undergo an external transformation undertaken via a combination of fixed scaffolding, goods/passenger hoist and 6No. mast-climber positions. Works include replacement insulated roof coverings to Broof(T4) classification , installation of replacement insulated render system incorporating dual density mineral wool insulation, replacement of all external windows and associated insulated spandrel panels, working closely with the Client to identify and generate a bespoke window solution incorporating the only A2 certificated spandrel panel currently available in the market. This bespoke solution involved significant market research and commercial flexibility and commitment from Connolly who ultimately had to broker, underwrite and act as ‘paymaster’ to members of the complex supply chain solution in order to achieve the final Client requirements., External riser cover replacements, new external lighting, flat extract fan re-location and renewal satisfying the building regs requirements of the new locations, balcony and walkway works and external decoration.

These works will be undertaken in a live environment with both blocks of flats remaining fully open and occupied throughout the works. Our health and safety plan will ensure the works do not interfere with any of the residents. Temporary works were designed and installed to ensure the ground floor foyers of the blocks were not used for the distribution of men and materials within the blocks further minimising any disruption to the residents of the blocks.

As part of our works, we plan to undertake a recycling initiative of the existing UPVC products that are removed to reduce our impact on the environment.
